On May 15, 2025, members of the Meenan team from Wantagh, NY rolled up their sleeves and spent the day volunteering at Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger-relief organization.
Island Harvest works to combat food insecurity by providing meals for individuals and families in need. Through food rescue, distribution, and community outreach, the organization connects nutritious food to local pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens, ensuring that Long Islanders facing hunger get the support they need
As warehouse volunteers, Dave Cooperman, Mark Samain, Fran Duffy, and Dean Glanzman helped prepare food boxes, sort products, and distribute supplies to Island Harvest’s network of member agencies. Their efforts contributed to the ongoing mission to alleviate hunger, reinforcing our commitment to Feeding America both nationally and locally.
This volunteer initiative is part of our partnership with Feeding America, helping to strengthen our communities and provide food to those struggling with hunger. Through this continued partnership, we remain dedicated to making a difference where it matters most.
A big thank you to the Meenan Wantagh team for their time and dedication to this important cause.
Island Harvest
Island Harvest has become Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization. They deliver millions of pounds of good, surplus food – much of which might otherwise go to waste – to a network of 570 Long Island-based food pantries, soup kitchens and other non-profit organizations that offer feeding services for those in need. By doing this, they provide a vital supply of food to counter the sharply rising problem of hunger on Long Island.
